Does my child need OT?
Occupational Therapy is a health care profession that is designed to help individuals of all abilities become more independent in the activities they do on a daily basis.
Specifically, in pediatrics, a child's "occupation" is play. It is through play that they learn, grow and obtain skills that will be used throughout their lives. Occupational Therapists help children improve their play skills, cognitive skills, motor skills, sensory processing, social and self-help skills.
Occupational Therapists evaluate the client's current abilities; develop a plan of care with goals, and work to obtain those goals through remedial or compensatory approaches, environmental modifications and/or preventative measures.
